The Longest Yard (1974)
One of the greatest movies of all time - The Longest Yard (1974). Wonderful inspiration to young actors and directors. I still remember the first time I saw The Longest Yard (1974). I expected average crap movie at most, I received amazing movie. I am a huge fan of Robert Aldrich and this movie was his best work of last years. Skills of actors are just unimaginable, especially Burt Reynolds's play. When a director makes movie and all of their scenes so influential that you don't want to pick your favorites, you know it is just a good, quality film. I'm sure that The Longest Yard (1974) will continue to live for next 100 years. Enjoy watching.
Storyline of The Longest Yard (1974)
The movie is based on a real-life association football game in 1942 between German soldiers and Ukrainian prisoners of war during World War II, known as the Death Match. An ex-football star doing time is forced by the warden to organize a team of inmates to play against (and get pummeled by) his own line-up of guards.
